French battery startup VoltR has secured a €22 million financing package to expand lithium-battery remanufacturing. The total comprises €16 million in equity and €6 million in grants, making it a combination of private investment and public support rather than a single venture-capital round.
The financing includes backing associated with Bpifrance's SPI 2 fund under France 2030 and Decathlon PULSE. The grant component comes through the Première Usine programme, which supports the transition towards industrial production.
VoltR's business focuses on recovering value from batteries through remanufacturing and second-life applications. That requires more than collecting used units: the company must establish their condition, sort suitable components and deliver products that meet the requirements of their next use.
The new capital is intended to help move that process to greater industrial scale. For customers, consistency and traceability will be central to the appeal of remanufactured batteries. VoltR's progress will depend on building a repeatable production system and securing suitable supply, while demonstrating that the resulting products offer a credible commercial alternative for their intended applications.
