Multiply Labs Raises $75 Million to Expand Drug Manufacturing Robotics

Multiply Labs has raised $75 million in Series B funding to develop robotics for complex drug manufacturing. The round was led by Patrick Soon-Shiong's NantWorks, according to reports on the transaction, and takes the company's total funding above $100 million since its founding in 2016.

Led by chief executive Fred Parietti, the startup is addressing production processes in which specialised equipment and closely controlled handling are central to the finished product. Its proposition is to automate manufacturing work that can otherwise demand substantial manual intervention.

For pharmaceutical customers, a robot's speed is only part of the purchasing decision. Equipment must fit existing production workflows, support traceability and perform             consistently. Introducing automation into a regulated process can therefore involve considerable validation before commercial benefits become visible.

The investment provides resources for Multiply Labs to advance that transition. It also illustrates how robotics companies can pursue specialised industrial markets where the value lies in reliable execution of difficult tasks. Funding alone does not establish clinical benefits or regulatory approval; those remain separate from the company's progress in manufacturing technology.
