Berkshire Hathaway invests additional $330 million in Bending Spoons

Berkshire Hathaway has invested an additional $330 million in digital technology firm Bending Spoons through a private placement, increasing its total equity stake to 4 percent. The deal, announced on October 14, 2026, follows a $600 million investment made by Berkshire during the Milan-based company’s initial public offering in July 2026.

Under the private placement structure, Bending Spoons will issue 10 million ordinary shares to Berkshire Hathaway at $33.00 per share. The securities have not been registered under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended, and cannot be offered or sold in the United States without registration or an applicable exemption. The deal is subject to customary closing conditions, and Bending Spoons said it will file further transaction details on Form 6-K with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Luca Ferrari, chief executive officer and co-founder of Bending Spoons, stated that Berkshire Hathaway has been a longstanding inspiration for his company. “For decades now, Berkshire Hathaway has been among the finest and most respected capital allocators in the world, and is a longstanding inspiration for Bending Spoons,” Ferrari said. “We were delighted to welcome Berkshire Hathaway as shareholders at our public listing, and we’re equally delighted to reinforce the partnership through this fresh investment.”

Acquisition Pipeline and Strategy

Bending Spoons plans to use the capital to increase its financial flexibility and expand its digital business acquisition pipeline. Francesco Patarnello, head of business acquisitions and co-founder of Bending Spoons, said, “Bending Spoons continuously evaluates M&A opportunities, and our pipeline remains strong. We believe Berkshire Hathaway’s investment reflects confidence in our team and Platform and will further enhance our financial flexibility and ability to pursue attractive acquisitions as part of our broader financing strategy.”

Bending Spoons builds its strategy around acquiring digital tech assets and making operational improvements to increase earnings, which are then reinvested in further acquisitions. Its transformations typically involve reorganizing internal teams, overhauling underlying technology, redesigning user interfaces, accelerating product development, and updating marketing and monetization strategies.

The company has followed this compounding acquisition approach for more than ten years and has never sold a material business. Its key businesses currently include Airtable, AOL, Brightcove, Eventbrite, Evernote, Tractive, Vimeo, and WeTransfer. Its operations rely on its proprietary technology, proprietary data, and workforce platform.

Berkshire Hathaway, headquartered in Omaha, conducts diverse business activities through subsidiaries in insurance and reinsurance, utilities and energy, freight rail transportation, manufacturing, services, and retailing. Its Class A and Class B common stock are listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbols BRK.A and BRK.B.
