Promise Robotics signs deal with DR Horton to build over 1,250 homes in Phoenix

Toronto-based construction technology startup Promise Robotics signed a multi-year commercial agreement with DR Horton on October 13, 2026, to supply components for more than 1,250 single-family homes in Phoenix, Arizona.

DR Horton is the largest homebuilder in the United States by volume. The agreement marks the Canadian company's first client in the United States.

To fulfill the order, Promise Robotics plans to open a 16,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Phoenix, according to BetaKit. Manufacturing at the new facility is scheduled to begin in early 2027.

The Phoenix plant will serve as the company's third factory and its first location outside of Canada. Promise Robotics currently operates manufacturing hubs in Calgary and Edmonton.

"That a company at that scale is able to look at what we have done and say, 'We’re ready to work with you,' that, to me, is very significant," Ramtin Attar, co-founder and chief executive officer of Promise Robotics, told BetaKit.

Promise Robotics uses software and automated machinery to produce structural house components. The platform interprets existing house plans, generates production schedules, and coordinates factory production with site installation.

"We are continuously focused on improving cycle times, increasing production capacity, and bringing greater consistency and predictability to our operations," Brad Conlon, senior vice president of strategic innovation at DR Horton, said in a statement. "Promise Robotics’ integrated platform gives us a new capability to support those goals."

The company currently builds core structural elements including interior and exterior walls, flooring, stairs, and roofs. It plans to add factory production of drywall, insulation, plumbing, and climate control systems over time.

Promise Robotics has completed more than 200 builds for housing developers including Brookfield, Hopewell, and Mattamy. The startup holds active contracts to produce components for just over 2,500 total homes.

The company currently employs 80 people and plans to expand its total workforce to 100 employees by the end of 2026.
