Huawei ships 100 million Kirin devices and details Kirin 9050
Huawei Technologies has shipped over 100 million Kirin-powered devices since 2023 and announced mass production of its new Kirin 9050 processor series.

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. announced on October 13, 2026, that cumulative shipments of devices powered by its Kirin processors have surpassed 100 million units since the company returned to the 5G smartphone market in 2023. The figure was disclosed during the 2026 Huawei Kirin Media Conference.
The Kirin processor family forms a central part of Huawei's strategy to reduce its reliance on foreign semiconductor suppliers following US export restrictions. By developing chips internally and partnering with domestic manufacturing suppliers, the Chinese technology firm has sought to rebuild its position in the smartphone industry while expanding artificial intelligence hardware development.
Huawei did not release a detailed breakdown of the 100 million shipments by specific device model, processor generation, or geographic market. The total reflects continuous device shipments following years of US trade sanctions that restricted the company's access to overseas manufacturing equipment and advanced chip components.
During the conference, Huawei provided technical details for its flagship Kirin 9050 processor series. The company described the Kirin 9050 as the first mass-produced chip to use its proprietary Logic Folding architecture, which was designed under a framework known as the Tau Scaling Law.
The Logic Folding system replaces long horizontal wiring by stacking horizontal circuits vertically using short vertical interconnects. Huawei said the chip design incorporates more than 50 million hybrid bonds to link semiconductor components, raising transistor density by 53.5 per cent. The closer electrical connections created by hybrid bonding support compact packaging and aim to improve data-transfer efficiency.
"The Kirin 9050 series has successfully achieved mass production with the support of China’s domestic electronics supply chain," Huawei said.
Huawei also confirmed that initial testing for its next-generation Kirin 2027 processor is progressing as planned. Preliminary testing results for the Kirin 2027 chip have met internal targets, according to Chinese news outlet Yicai.
