Tiny acquires Oso Cloud assets for $1.9 million

Tiny, a technology holding company based in Victoria, British Columbia, announced on Wednesday that it paid $1.9 million CAD to acquire the assets of New York-based Oso Cloud, according to a report by BetaKit writer Madison McLauchlan.

The transaction represents Tiny's first acquisition in the enterprise software security sector, adding to its broader portfolio of developer tool assets. Oso Cloud develops authorization management software that assists businesses in tracking access controls for human employees and automated software tools.

In a press release, Tiny stated that Oso Cloud generated approximately $5.3 million in annualized recurring revenue before the deal. The asset acquisition expands Tiny's overall annualized recurring revenue to more than $75 million on a pro forma basis.

“Controlling access to sensitive data and critical systems is fundamental to how large enterprises operate securely, especially as new applications and AI tools reshape how work gets done,” Tiny Chief Executive Officer Austin Singhera said in a release.

Following the deal, members of the Oso Cloud team, including co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Graham Neray, joined Temporal Technologies, an open-source software development platform based in the United States. Tiny Chief Financial Officer Mike McKenna told BetaKit in an interview that a “small but dedicated team” will remain behind to keep growing the business under Tiny's ownership.

In the interview, McKenna described the deal as a “prime opportunity to have a real strong impact in the environment” of software security for businesses managing access to critical data.

Founded by Andrew Wilkinson and Chris Sparling, Tiny operates as a publicly traded firm focused on acquiring digital businesses to hold for the long term. The firm's shares trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange at around $6, down from a pandemic-era high of $236.

Tiny maintains a diverse portfolio of digital companies. Its holdings include the film-review app Letterboxd, which the company is reportedly shopping around, and DJ software maker Serano.
