Airtel Money raises $703 million in London Stock Exchange IPO
Airtel Money has commenced conditional trading on the London Stock Exchange following a $703 million initial public offering that values the firm at $7 billion.

Airtel Mobile Commerce N.V., the African mobile payments company trading as Airtel Money, began conditional trading on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange on October 9, 2026, after raising roughly $703 million (£582 million) in an initial public offering.
The institutional booking phase concluded with shares priced at £1.96 each, setting the company's initial market capitalisation at approximately £5.3 billion ($7 billion), according to Businessday NG. The offer raised funds through the issuance and sale of 270 million new shares.
The initial public offering was heavily oversubscribed by both institutional and retail investors. Businessday NG reported that investor demand during the bookbuilding process exceeded the total number of available shares several times over.
Conditional dealings began at 8:00 a.m. on Friday. Stock in Airtel Money opened flat in early London dealings before rising by as much as 2 percent to trade at £2.00 per share.
Parent firm Airtel Africa plc sold no existing shares during the offer. Airtel Africa stated that it will remain a dedicated long-term strategic shareholder to support the expansion of Airtel Money as an independent publicly listed company.
Listing Structure and London Exchange Context
The expected initial public float for Airtel Money ranges between 16.5 percent and 17.5 percent, including over-allotment options. The listing structure positions the fintech company for potential inclusion in the FTSE UK Index series.
The transaction represents the largest initial public offering on the London Stock Exchange since 2021, excluding dual listings. It also marks the largest market debut in London since Fermi Inc completed its dual listing in September 2025, bringing new activity to an exchange that has seen a prolonged drought in initial share offerings over recent years.
Chief Executive Officer Ian Ferrao and London Stock Exchange Chief Executive Julia Hoggett formally launched the conditional trading session by attending the market-opening ceremony in London.
Fintech Operations and Final Admission
Airtel Money functions as a digital financial services provider across 14 markets in Sub-Saharan Africa. The unit serves as a primary growth engine for its parent group, generating more than $1.08 billion in annual revenue.
Full admission to the Official List of the Financial Conduct Authority and the start of unconditional trading on the London Stock Exchange are scheduled to take place on October 14, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.
